Our Email Rules
Last updated September 25, 2026, Pacific time
NewsBlend only sends to people who have agreed to hear from the business that's emailing them. Here's exactly how that works, and what happens if it doesn't.
How a customer list gets on NewsBlend
When a business imports a list, every address on it gets handled one of two ways. Free plans always use the first.
- One-time confirmation email (double opt-in, the default). We send each imported address a single email asking them to confirm they want the newsletter. Only people who confirm start receiving issues.
- Business attestation (paid plans only). On a paid plan, instead of a confirmation email, the business can attest — in writing, on the record — that everyone on the list already agreed to hear from them (past customers, current clients, existing subscribers, etc.). The business takes responsibility for that being true.
Either way, every reader gets a one-click unsubscribe on every email, from the first one on.
What you can upload
Your own customers, clients, tenants, members or subscribers — people who have an existing relationship with your business and would reasonably expect to hear from you.
What you can't upload
- Purchased, rented or co-registered email lists.
- Addresses scraped or harvested from the web, directories or someone else's site.
- A list bought or obtained from a broker or data vendor.
- Another business's customer list, or a list you don't have the right to use.
- Role or group addresses (like info@ or sales@) that don't belong to a specific person who agreed to hear from you.
What's in every email
- An accurate sender name and subject line — never misleading about who it's from or what's inside.
- The sending business's mailing address.
- A one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately, no login required.
Unsubscribes
When a reader unsubscribes, we remove them right away and they are never emailed again on that business's behalf, for that newsletter or anything else that business sends through NewsBlend.
Bounces and complaints
If an address hard-bounces or a reader marks an email as spam, we automatically stop sending to it from every business on NewsBlend. This happens without anyone having to ask — it protects both that business's sending reputation and everyone else's on NewsBlend.
Reporting abuse
If you received a NewsBlend email you don't think you signed up for, use the unsubscribe link to stop it immediately, and let us know at hello@newsblend.app so we can look into it. Accounts that import non-consented lists or ignore these rules can be suspended or closed.
