Carnival Panorama left Long Beach on September 26 for an eight-night Mexican Riviera cruise, but Hurricane Polo has changed the route. The ship will skip Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán so it can keep a safer distance from the storm. Ensenada has been added before the vessel continues toward La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.

Carnival said it will keep watching conditions during the voyage and could revise the schedule again if forecasts shift. The ship carries about 4,000 passengers, and the change affects travelers who had planned time ashore in the cancelled ports. Excursions booked through Carnival for Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán will be cancelled and refunded in full.

The storm has also altered another West Coast cruise. Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas departed Long Beach on September 25 with Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada removed from its schedule, while Puerto Vallarta was added instead.

What to know
  • The sailing lasts eight nights.
  • Carnival will refund affected shore excursions.
  • Navigator of the Seas also changed its route.
  • La Paz remains on Panorama’s itinerary.
