Carnival Panorama is changing course because Hurricane Polo has strengthened to Category 5 in the Eastern Pacific. The ship’s September 26 departure from Long Beach will not visit Puerto Vallarta on September 29 or Mazatlan on September 30. Instead, Ensenada is scheduled for September 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The revised trip includes a sea day on September 27, followed by two more days offshore after Ensenada. La Paz remains on the schedule for October 1, with Cabo San Lucas planned for October 2. The ship is still expected back in Long Beach on October 4. Carnival said its operations team will keep tracking the storm and could adjust the route again if conditions change.

Travelers who purchased Carnival shore tours in Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan will receive refunds in their onboard accounts. Excursions in Ensenada can be booked instead. The storm was reported with 175-mph sustained winds, about 380 miles south of Cabo San Lucas, and moving west-northwest at 10 mph.

What to know
  • The advisory went to booked passengers on September 25.
  • Ensenada replaces Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
  • Refunds apply to Carnival excursions in the canceled ports.
  • Polo was moving at 10 mph.
