Marriott travelers can receive Platinum Elite status simply by holding the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card. No spending threshold applies to that status benefit. Cardholders also get $300 toward dining and a yearly certificate redeemable for a hotel night costing as many as 85,000 points. The card charges a $650 yearly fee, while extra cardmembers can be added without another fee.

A temporary introductory deal is available through September 30, 2026. New eligible cardholders can collect 150,000 Bonvoy points, plus $250 back on their statement. Unlocking both portions requires $6,000 in purchases during the opening six months. Eligibility is limited by previous ownership of this card and certain other Marriott products, although holders of the Bonvoy Business or Bonvoy Bevy Amex may qualify.

Eligible Marriott hotel charges earn 6x points. Restaurant spending and airfare purchased directly from airlines receive 3x, while other qualifying purchases return 2x. There are no fees for foreign transactions. Cardholders who put $60,000 on the account within a calendar year may select an additional Choice Rewards perk, with an 85,000-point night certificate among the available selections.
