Capital One’s Venture card costs $95 annually, while Venture X carries a $395 fee. Each earns no fewer than 2 miles for every dollar charged and uses the same airline and hotel transfer network. Venture X becomes more compelling when its cardholder benefits see regular use.

Venture X provides $300 toward qualifying reservations made in Capital One Travel. Any unused amount disappears at the following account anniversary. Starting after the first anniversary, cardholders also receive 10,000 miles each year. Its airport benefits cover Capital One Lounges, Landings and Priority Pass locations, though enrollment applies and companions may require payment. Separate lounge privileges for an authorized user cost $125, with as many as four allowed.

New applicants for either product can earn 75,000 miles by putting $4,000 on the card during their opening three months. Venture’s offer additionally includes $300 for hotels or vacation rentals reserved through Capital One Travel during year one. Bonus eligibility looks back 48 months, with different restrictions for each card. Both products reimburse as much as $120 for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck once every four years. Venture X further includes Premier Collection hotel privileges, cellphone coverage and Hertz President’s Circle status.
