Travelers with Hyatt reservations are being targeted by WhatsApp messages that appear to come from a booking-related service. The notes use guests’ real names and hotel dates, then warn that rooms could be released unless the reservation is confirmed within a day. Reports mainly involve Rio Las Vegas, including one guest who used a Hyatt app free-night award.

The messages say no money will be taken, but direct recipients toward a website and may ask them to approve a phone alert or text. That combination can disguise an attempt to collect card details or authorize a payment. One reported message displayed the sender as Pinnacle Teleservices, a legitimate WhatsApp business-messaging provider, but the booking reference in another report did not match the traveler’s actual confirmation.

The information may have come through a hotel system, employee account, reservations computer or outside vendor, though the source was not established in the notes. Similar fraud has also been reported with Booking.com and Agoda reservations. Travelers who receive one should verify it through the contact details in their original Hyatt confirmation or the official app, and should not approve a bank request prompted by the message.
