Two NYC Running Stores Pointed One Runner to a Different Shoe

Foot scans at Super Runners Shop and Fleet Feet produced the same recommendation.

A New York City runner visited two stores hoping to buy the Brooks Adrenaline 25 GTS. Instead, both shops directed him to the Glycerin 23 GTS after examining how his feet fit and move. He had overpronation, and his older shoes had begun causing foot and back discomfort.

At Super Runners Shop on the Upper West Side, a scan led an employee to suggest the Glycerin. The runner left without purchasing it, then visited Fleet Feet for an independent check. That store’s fit id system used cameras and a pressure surface to measure features such as foot size, arch height, and weight distribution. It produced the same result. Super Runners Shop uses a different setup that combines imaging, pressure readings, and staff assessment.

Trying both models helped explain the recommendation. The Glycerin offered more support where he needed it, with space in the front of the shoe and less of a guided feeling than the Adrenaline. Runner’s World testing has also described the GTS design as supportive without feeling overly forceful, including for wider feet. The runner bought the Glycerin and said it has worked well for running and workouts. He also liked its appearance, though he noted that fewer color options are available in stores than for the standard version.
