Cycplus AS2 Ultra Fits in a Cycling Jersey Pocket

Bicycling found the compact pump useful for most road and gravel outings.

Among nearly a dozen rechargeable inflators tested across ten brands, the Cycplus AS2 Ultra stood out for balancing portability, accuracy and battery capacity. With its silicone sleeve attached, it weighs 107 grams. Its three dimensions are 2.5 inches, 1.75 inches and 1 inch, making it compact enough to disappear into a cycling jersey pocket.

Performance varied by tire type. Starting from flat, a 28mm road tire reached 65 psi after 42 seconds. A 45mm gravel tire took 47 seconds to reach 30 psi, while a 2.3-inch mountain bike tire reached 20 psi in 45 seconds. Its gauge differed from verified pressure by only 1 psi, the best accuracy among the tested models. The battery managed four complete inflations and stopped during the fifth. Routine pressure adjustments and top-ups could continue for several weeks between charges, with no meaningful battery drain noticed during storage.

The tradeoffs are heat and noise. The unit produced approximately 70 decibels and reached about 91 degrees Fahrenheit, roughly 10 degrees above most competitors. Its sleeve shields hands, while the extension hose can limit heat transfer to TPU tubes fitted with non-metal valve bodies. After a year of use, it replaced CO2 cartridges for rides where cartridges had previously been sufficient. For remote or rough routes where backup equipment matters, the tester still carried a manual pump.
