Contactless Trackers Monitor Sleep From Bedside
New devices record sleep without anything worn or charged.

Sleep tracking no longer has to involve a watch, ring, or band. Contactless devices stay on a nightstand or beneath the mattress, recording breathing, movement, and other sleep signals without touching the body or needing a charge. That removes overnight discomfort and the need to keep a wearable powered.
The Hatch Sleep Clock uses non-contact radar from a bedside table to detect presence and movement after setup in its app. Instead of producing a score every morning, it studies patterns over several days and weeks. It may notice a gradually later bedtime or better sleep after calming audio, then suggest a routine adjustment. Its recommendations begin after roughly a week of learning, and the clock also works as a sunrise alarm.
Other options include the Withings Sleep Tracking Pad, which measures heart rate, breathing, and snoring beneath a mattress, and Eight Sleep’s Pod 6, a sensor-equipped mattress cover that adds sleep stages, HRV, and temperature control for each side of the bed. Wearables still collect more direct information and remain more useful for workouts, steps, and recovery. Contactless trackers are better suited to broad patterns such as bedtime, total sleep, and schedule consistency. Hatch says its detection reaches 97 percent accuracy against clinical sleep studies, compared with about 99 percent for those studies. For people focused mainly on sleep, these bedside and mattress-based devices provide ongoing tracking without anything worn or charged.
