Spooky Harbor brings Halloween films to Sand Harbor

The fifth edition pairs outdoor screenings with two cultural and family celebrations.

Sand Harbor’s Halloween series returns to Incline Village with nighttime films and seasonal gatherings scheduled between September 25 and November 1. On October 9, “Hocus Pocus” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Sand Harbor Stage hosts the screenings, which generally start about 30 minutes following sunset. Admission to the program costs nothing, although the usual fee to enter the park remains in effect.

Two dates include more than a movie. October 23 brings the Kids Fall Festival at 4 p.m., then trick-or-treating at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. showing of “Monster House.” On November 1, a Día de los Muertos gathering starts at 3 p.m.; “Coco” follows at 6 p.m. Other selections span PG and R ratings, so families will need to judge which evenings fit their group.

Guests will find no food sales at the venue, and illumination becomes sparse at night. Blankets, compact chairs, flashlights and layers for the cold are encouraged. Weather can force an event to be called off without advance warning. Current information is available through the Nevada State Parks event listings. Marissa Cook can also be reached at shsp@parks.nv.gov or (775) 831-0494.

What to know
  • The series marks its fifth year.
  • October 2 features “Get Out” at 8 p.m.
  • October 30 features “Trick ‘r Treat” at 7 p.m.
  • Regular park entry charges still apply.
