Starting Nov. 1, 2026, Eastern Placer County will again restrict parking on roads in its higher-elevation areas. The seasonal rule lasts until May 1, 2027. It covers county-maintained roads east of Emigrant Gap, including routes serving North Lake Tahoe, Serene Lakes, Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows.

The restriction supports winter snow-clearing work. A vehicle left on one of these roads can be damaged, interfere with removal equipment or slow operations. County officials say the limits still apply during mild weather because snow maintenance may continue. The reminder is directed at residents and visitors, including people traveling through the Tahoe City area and other parts of Eastern Placer.

In downtown areas, visitors must use marked public parking lots. A vehicle parked illegally could receive a ticket and fine, and it may be towed when needed. Under Placer County’s updated fine schedule, violations cost $150 for a first offense, $250 for a second and $450 for a third or later offense.
