Arccos Air Tracks Golf Without Club-Mounted Sensors

The pocket-sized device uses motion tracking and GPS, but club recognition still needs occasional correction.

Arccos Air offers golfers a less intrusive way to record rounds. The small wearable connects to the Arccos app and uses motion sensing, GPS and an AI system trained on more than 1.5 billion swings. There is no need to attach separate sensors to individual clubs, and a charging case lasts about 10 to 12 rounds before it needs a top-up.

The tradeoff is accuracy. During a summer of testing, the device identified the club used on roughly 60% to 70% of shots. Performance improved as more rounds were recorded, but some entries still needed fixing in the app. That cleanup initially took nearly 20 minutes, then fell to less than five as the tester became familiar with the process. Pressing the device at the flag can also help the app record approach and putting information more precisely.

The reward is a detailed review of a golfer’s performance, including weaknesses, measurable targets and suggested practice routines. Arccos Air carries a substantial purchase price plus an annual subscription. For golfers who dislike sensors on their grips, it provides useful analysis with less equipment attached; existing Smart Sensor users may prefer their greater accuracy.

What to know
  • The unit measures 2.5 by 1.5 inches.
  • The charging case protects the device between rounds.
  • Round corrections now take under five minutes.
  • Smart Sensors remain the more accurate option.
